Unveiled at this year's E3 as one of the many surprise 3DS game announcements, this week's issue of Famitsu takes a good look at how Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition is shaping up.
Speaking with producer Yoshinori Ono, he first reveals that Capcom had initially looked at bringing the game to DS and PSP, but these systems just couldn't faithfully reproduce the experience (yet an iPhone port exists). When the 3DS was announced, Ono jumped on the chance to develop for it.
The game is still in a very early stage, currently around 10% complete. When asked how they plan to incorporate the 3D technology, Ono says his team is still experimenting with the effect, but it'll be used purely for visual flair. "The gameplay will be the same as Super Street Fighter IV". All 35 characters will be in there, and the fighting systems shall remain intact (Saving Attack, Ultra Combo, etc.)

Surprisingly, Famitsu enquired if the 3DS version will be easier and kid-friendly, since it's a game for Nintendo hardware (a sad stigma still lingering from the Nintendo 64 days). "Rather than that," said Ono, "we'd like to make it into a title that makes kids grow." So basically, no.
Online multiplayer will be supported, and Capcom's hoping to include just about everything from the console editions - along with additional content exclusive to the 3DS. Much like the 3D effect, they're also still playing around with control schemes. They're currently looking at adding virtual buttons to the touch screen for those that want them (... anyone?)
While they're not yet commiting to any sort of launch window, Capcom has today released some new screens.
