Where's Wally? On a plane to Australia

Ahhhhh! This is the exact same with me. I always thought it was just a parody, and have been confused ever since. It's Waldo, for reals?! Damn.

I actually had the books growing up as a kid.

And one of them I had was called Where's Waldo Now. I felt it was always kind strange having Where's Wally in Hollywood and Wally The Fantastic Journey.

The Books seemed to of lost their sparks over the years. I just hope with these ones it's a tough challenge with finding him again.

I used to love the Simpson jokes.

Homer: Marge i'm 26 hours late for work. I got no time for Maggie.

Homer: Ooh Where's Waldo. Nope, nope. Nope. Be a lot easier without all these people around.

I always cracked up at that one.

I think the other one was Bart getting some Waldo book and with one of them you spot Waldo right off the bat. And bart's like: Man he's just not trying anymore.

I am 99% sure that 'Wally' did come first.

I think the first I remember hearing about/being confused by the Waldo thing was in the movie about the Loch Ness monster, in the guy's speech at the end when he says something like "I guess we should just be asking ourselves 'Where's Waldo?'" and then puts the kid's picture on the projector, while everyone else was all confused and asking who the hell Waldo was. Just like what I was doing :)

I was first confused when I played an old floppy disc game "Where's Waldo at the Circus", atleast that's basically what it was called. Never got it running properly.
Wally did come first, he is known as Wally in his "country of origin". But the character of Odlaw is Waldo spelled backwards, don't know the full story of him.
Regardless, I hate the name Waldo. It's so stupid. Wally, now that's an awesome name. Gives him a certain charm.

I was right, according to Wikipedia, they did two versions of the cartoon, Waldo for the US and Canada and Wally for the UK and Australia.

This has done wonders on the iPhone, so it should do good on the DS. Not sure about the Wii though.

What gets me is why Odlaw (that bad yellow guy) is still called Odlaw over here. Odlaw is obviously Waldo backwards so shouldn't he be called Yllaw over here?

One of the episodes of the show involved a character singing a song that rhymed in the American version, but they didn't bother in the UK one. :(
