Nintendo Shop Updates: March 12th

Welcome to this weeks instalment of Nintendo Shop Updates, eight new titles are available today on Virtual Console, WiiWare and DSiWare. We are celebrating the Hanabi Festival this week with two new titles never previously released in PAL regions.

Title: Ironclad
System: Virtual Console
Price:
1000 Nintendo Points
The first NeoGeo game in over a year, Ironclad is a 3D rendered shoot em up offering visually appealing and very addictive gameplay. You travel in a horizontal motion blasting enemy ships in your way, a second player can even jump in at any time for co-op gameplay. There are various alternate courses which provides some great replay value considering you may end up in a totally different place the second time around. Ironclad is the one of the best titles this Hanabi Festival is offering and though the price is a little high, it is sure to please fans of the genre.

Title: Lode Runner
System: Virtual Console
Price:
600 Nintendo Points
The second title to never make its way to PAL regions in the past, Lode Runner has you in controller of "Runner" who must collect the gold in every stage whilst avoiding evil robots. This is basically a puzzle game, you'll need to decide how to get around the robots and collect all the gold before you can move onto the next level. There are fifty levels in all along with a Level Creator mode that as you'd expect, allows you to make new levels.

Title: Military Madness: Nectaris
System: WiiWare

1000 Nintendo Points
The classic turn-based strategy series has made its way onto WiiWare with several exclusive features. You're in control of a military base as you build new defensive and offensive tools to defeat your opponents. Play with up to four friends locally or online either against each other or in teams. A must for any strategy fan that offers clear 3D visuals and vast levels of customisation.

Title: Pop Island
System: DSiWare

500 Nintendo Points
A cute and colourful capture the flag game played with little cubed animals. Verse up to seven friends using DS Download Play or on your own as you try to unlock new worlds and characters to play as. Power ups are hidden around the island adding various forms of crazyness as you try to locate your opponents flag and bring it back to your camp before they do the same. The game utilises 3D graphics, colourful visuals and cute little sound effects which all complement each other and makes for one casual little time waster.

Title: Elemental Masters
System: DSiWare

Choose your character, build up your army in your card deck and fight the mystical creatures of Elendior. With thoughtful use of your cards, you obtain the monsters of your enemy and support your attacks by using arcane spells and the rules of the dark magic. Dive into this capturing story in the quest mode, or duel with your friends in the multiplayer. With over 100 cards to use across 15 different maps, learn to use the elements to your advantage.

Title: 4 Travellers: Play Spanish
System: DSiWare

800 Nintendo Points
The game is suitable for both young and old, and no previous knowledge is necessary. The more you play, the more your Spanish vocabulary increases. You can also play and learn with the game's unique learning mode. The game is perfect to bring on your trip, with more than 240 carefully selected words included specifically for this occasion.

Title: Simply Mahjong
System: DSiWare
Price:
200 Nintendo Points
Yet another Mahjong game for a good price, if you're a fan of the classic tile placing game then give it a go, you don't have much to lose for 200 Points.

Title: Simply Sudoku
System: DSiWare
Price:
200 Nintendo Points
One thing DSiWare does not need are more Sudoku titles even for only 200 Points considering most of them cost that much. Compare this with the other fifty already available and you'll see it doesn't really offers nothing new or original.

I used to think Lode Runner was the video game version of Blade Runner XD

Australia missed out on four out of the five DSiWare games this week. We only got 4 Travellers: Play Spanish. =(

Kinda interested in Ironclad, but 1000 Points is eeeeeehhhhhh.

I'm giving up all hope of pilotwings 64 ever coming to VC. Actually scratch that i'm giving up all hope of seeing another N64 game at all.

Still waiting for Super Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, Goldeneye, Pilotwings 64... I could go on Nintendo!
