Science is great...

Anyway, on the day that is tomorrow, I shall be heading off to the District Interview for NYSF. I've been preparerising for a little while, but I'm not entirely sure what is going on exactly.

If anyone has done this interview before, help would be greatly appreciated. My main question is probably just what they like to hear, and how I should approach answering the questions.

Otherwise, just general guidance (from Yoda, preferably) would be great.

Thanking you.

I personally haven't done it, but I took my little sister to her interview last week.

At hers, there were 4 parts. Not sure if it will be same for you, but here's how hers worked-

The first wasn't scored, and basically just gives an overview of how the interviews will work, and what happens if you get in.

The other three were all the stuff you should have been preparing for, like the speech and stuff. Talking to the judges during their breaks in the waiting room, they emphasized how they want confident people with opinions- so when they ask you about stuff, make sure you have have an opinion, and waffle about both sides. Apparently a lot of people do it and they hate it.
Also, my sister was asked a bit about current affairs, like that beached what in SA, or where the nuclear reactor is (Lucas Heights, Sydney).
But yeh, I would say confidence is the big thing they look for.

Good luck!

A while back the NYSF kids came to RMIT (on a weekend) and I showed them around our electron micoscope facility and taught them how to use the electron microscopes. I'm pretty sure they had a good time.
